Coastal desert

Lima is located in a coastal desert, a rare ecosystem where arid landscapes meet the Pacific Ocean, creating a unique mix of cliffs, fog, and biodiversity.

The landscape of Lima is characterised by cliffs, rocky beaches, and a coastline where the desert meets the Pacific Ocean. And in case you didn't know, Lima is one of the few capitals in the world situated in a coastal desert.

Andes highlands

The highlands of the Andes in Peru are characterised by their great altitude, with peaks exceeding 6,000 metres above sea level. The climate is cold and dry, with landscapes dominated by mountains, valleys, and lagoons. Vegetation is sparse but resilient, featuring species such as paja brava and ichu, while the local wildlife includes llamas, alpacas, vicuñas, and the Andean condor.

Cloud forest

As the Andes descend towards the Amazon, they give way to the cloud forest— a humid ecosystem with dense vegetation constantly shrouded in mist. Here, you will see moss-covered trees, giant ferns, and orchids.
